The river Coquet is within ‘casting distance’ of The Northumberland Arms. Guests will have the exclusive use of miles of single bank fishing. For those who fish or want to learn how to fly fish or need guiding on the river, well known coach and guide Bob Smith can be booked in advance.

Bob worked for Hardy Greys, the world famous fishing tackle manufacturers for several years and can provide all tackle should it be required. To learn about Bob and the service he provides, check out his website at Should the Coquet be in flood, then there are a number of quality still waters within a short travelling distance. These still waters have terrific facilities and have trout in excess of twenty pounds!

The Northumberland Arms can provide residents with pre-booked superb packed lunches, as well as offering the ultimate in stylish residential suites and fantastic, locally sourced food, served either in the bar or restaurant. For individual anglers, family groups or corporate events, The Northumberland Arms in conjunction with Bob Smith can provide quality river or still water fishing with a top class coach/guide for anglers of all ages and abilities.

Birdwatch Northumbria introduces the birdlife of Northumberland and the North East. We run tours with friendly guides who share their knowledge of local birds with infectious enthusiasm. Our strength is the personal guidance we provide in small groups and the illustrated presentations that accompany each event.

Northumbria is one of Britain’s richest wildlife regions. As well as birds, look out for an impressive range of mammals, Roe Deer, Otter, Grey Seal, Wild Goat and the endangered Red Squirrel. Discover attractive flowers like Pyramidal Orchid, Marsh Helleborine and the Grass of Parnassus.
